Step One

Let's Start With Your Password Reset and Account Recovery.

Please change the password provided to you with your University account. You should also enroll in our account recovery options, so you have the ability to change your password if forgotten or if you are locked out of your account.

Step Two

Still need to get a computer?

Find information about the MINIMUM specifications recommended by the University, what system may be better suited for your major, and access the discounts provided to you for attending a University.

Step Three

Get your University email set up on your devices.

You have the option to add your University email account to your mobile devices, so you can easily access the account wherever and whenever you want.

Step Four

You'll also want to download Microsoft Office.

The University's licensing agreement with Microsoft provides all active students with a free copy of Microsoft Office that can be installed on up to 5 devices. You also get 1TB of OneDrive cloud storage to store all of your data.

Step Five

Is your device protected? If not, let's talk about Anti-virus Software.

The University requires all devices to have anti-virus software installed. You are able to chose between free or paid versions. If you have questions about which to use, contact us at StudentTechSupport@newhaven.edu

Download and setup Zoom.

Zoom is the industry-leading all-in-one solution for video, audio, screen sharing, and messaging. Zoom offers full video conferencing services on your Mac, PC, iOS or Android device, and webinars with up to 100 participants.

Get access to software online. 

As a student you have access to specific software related to your program at no additional cost to you. Learn more about what is available to you.

Step Eight

Get all of your devices ready!

The University offers high speed internet via wired or wireless connectivity throughout all residential and academic buildings.  Learn how to find your MAC address - you'll be needing it. All smartTVs, gaming, and streaming devices MUST be registered in order for them to work on our guest network.

Living on campus? Get access to Xfinity on Campus.

Residential students have access to Xfinity on Campus streaming. This service is available using a Roku, Roku smartTV, select Samsung smartTVs, mobile device app, or web browser.

Step Ten

Plan to Print on campus?

The University implemented a Print Green Program to reduce unnecessary printing, decrease the consumption of paper, toner, and energy. You have access to printers in all of the residence halls, and in the library. You are provided with $18 in printing funds by the University every semester.

Step Eleven

All you need to know about Blackboard.

Blackboard support is responsible for resolving issues with assignment submissions, attachments, basic navigation of Blackboard, tests being taken or submitted, eCard, and Kaltura. Step Twelve

It's all about that ID card.

All students are required to have a current Campus Card, and must keep the card with them when on campus to identify themselves as a member of the University community. Campus Card distributes ID cards, both new and replacement ($20 fee), printing funds, and ChargerCash. Our office is open Monday - Saturday, hours varying. Student Technical Support office. We are here to help.

The Student Technical Support Office aids in basic computer repairs, network and Xfinity Streaming issues on and off campus, issues with email, myCharger, and Banner.  Our office is open Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM.
