What software is available to students?
Please view our list of software below that is available for free or discounted student use. Please note that some software may only be available if you are in a class that requires the use of that program.
Adobe Creative Cloud
If you are enrolled in a course that requires the use of the Adobe suite, you will receive an email with instructions on how to access Creative Cloud. Creative Cloud is a collection of Adobe applications for graphic design, video editing, web development, and photography.
Apps on Demand
Apps on Demand is the University of New Haven’s implementation of Amazon AppStream 2.0, which allows users to access desktop applications through their HTML5-capable web browsers.
ArcGIS
Quickly create maps by dropping in your spreadsheet and mashing it up with other location data included in ArcGIS Online. Apply Smart Mapping styles to make your data visually stunning. If you require access and do not have a license, please email amacdougall@newhaven.edu.
AutoCAD
Autodesk provides students, educators, and institutions free access to AutoCAD software, in addition to learning tools. Get a free 3-year education license now.
Chemdraw
A chemistry communication suite, ChemOffice+ Cloud Standard transforms your chemical drawings into chemical knowledge by facilitating the management, reporting and presenting of your Chemistry research. For access to ChemDraw, email dlaudano@newhaven.edu.
Cinema 4D
The new Cinema 4D release extends the creative possibilities of up and coming 3D artists with new features such as volume-based modeling, Fields, multi-instances and a node-based material system.
Inventor
Autodesk® Inventor® software provides engineers and designers a professional grade solution for 3D mechanical design, simulation, visualization, and documentation.
LabVIEW
LabVIEW, or Laboratory Virtual Instrument Engineering Workbench, is a system-design platform by National Instruments that uses the visual programming language "G." It simplifies tasks like data acquisition, analysis, and control by allowing users to drag and drop built-in functions, reducing syntax errors and speeding up development. Mathematica
Mathematica is a software system with built-in libraries for several areas of technical computing that allow machine learning, statistics, symbolic computation, manipulating matrices, plotting functions and various types of data, implementation of algorithms, creation of user interfaces, and interfacing with programs written in other programming languages. MATLAB
MATLAB is a proprietary multi-paradigm programming language and numeric computing environment developed by MathWorks. MATLAB allows matrix manipulations, plotting of functions and data, implementation of algorithms, creation of user interfaces, and interfacing with programs written in other languages.

Microsoft Office
The University’s licensing agreement with Microsoft provides all active students with a free copy of Microsoft Office that can be installed on up to 5 devices while you are a current student.

Parallels
Parallels Desktop is a powerful program that allows you to add Windows, Linux, or another operating system to your Mac by creating a Virtual Machine (VM). This is offered at a discounted rate for students. Click Here to learn how to download and install Parallels.

Remote Desktop
We have made some of our desktop computers on campus available to you remotely as well. Please follow the instructions provided to access them from your device while on campus.
Respondus LockDown
LockDown Browser® is a custom browser that locks down the testing environment within Canvas.

Revit software is specifically built for Building Information Modeling (BIM), empowering design and construction professionals to bring ideas from concept to construction
SPSS
SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) is a software tool used for statistical analysis, data management, and complex data visualization, widely utilized in social science research and other fields.
The license provided for SPSS is active for a year starting July 31st of the current school year.
Tableau Student
Tableau aims to improve the flow of analysis and make data more accessible to people through visualization. Tableau offers a 1 year free license to students.
West Point Bridge
The West Point Bridge Design software is a free-to-use simulation for basic bridge design. Students will be introduced to the basic theory of structural design.
wxMaxima
wxMaxima is a symbolic-based mathematical software providing a number of functions for algebraic manipulation, calculus operations, matrix and linear algebra, and other mathematical calculations.
What is Apps On Demand?
Loaner Laptop Policy
The University has set aside a limited number of loaner computers specifically for the students taking strictly online classes. They are to be used in the event that your personal laptop requires service that will leave you without a computer. Please email StudentTechSupport@NewHaven.edu to inquire for more information.
